Leading to New Heights

Time for a change.

Healthcare leaders are carrying more than anyone realizes. Nurses are burning out. New managers were never taught how to lead. The middle is barely holding. You can’t be the only one who sees it and you shouldn’t have to fix it alone.

Ford & Fernandes Consulting is healthcare leadership coaching and consulting, built by nurses with 10+ years on the floor: ED, ICU, trauma, geriatric, med-surg and travel nursing. We’ve lived what your team is living, and we’ve seen what’s possible when leaders get the support they actually need. That’s the work we’re here to do alongside you!

What we believe

Nurses deserve to be seen and heard

Ask any nurse and she’ll tell you being heard at work feels rare, and being truly seen feels even more rare. After enough surveys that go nowhere and enough “engagement” emails that miss the point, most nurses have stopped expecting it. But the truth is, the people closest to the patient are the ones with the clearest view of what’s working and what isn’t and most of the time, nobody’s asking. We think that needs to change, and we believe it can.

Leadership should be taught before the title, not after.

Most healthcare leaders will tell you the same story, they received the job title and then had to figure out the job alone. They were never trained on how to actually lead people. Promoting the best clinician on the floor and hoping she figures out the management piece isn’t a development plan. It’s a setup. New leaders deserve real training, real support, and real room to grow into the role before they’re handed a team and told to lead it.

Real change is possible.

It’s easy to stop believing. After enough initiatives that didn’t stick and enough leadership turnover, most people in healthcare have learned to keep their expectations low. We’ve watched units fall apart and we’ve watched units come back. The difference is rarely a new strategy or a new platform. It’s usually leaders who finally receive the support they needed, given to them by people who actually understood the work. That’s the work we’re here to do.

How We Help

Burnout & Stress Workshops

Our workshops are built for nursing staff who are running on empty and need more than a wellness webinar. We create space for nurses to name what’s actually going on, share the load with colleagues who get it, and walk away with practical tools they can use the next shift — language for hard conversations, ways to set limits without guilt, and strategies for staying steady when the work isn’t.

Leadership Skills Training

This is the training new healthcare leaders would have loved before they ever received the title. We cover skills the role assumes is already there — running effective meetings, having hard conversations, leading a team through change, managing without micromanaging, and giving feedback that actually supports the individual. The training isn’t theoretical. It’s built for what actually happens on a unit.

Managing Up & Down Coaching

Middle management in healthcare is one of the hardest jobs in the building. Pressure from the C-suite, pressure from the floor, and almost no support in between. We coach the leaders holding that middle — helping them communicate up without losing their team, lead their team without burning out, and stay grounded in who they are while doing both.

One-on-One Coaching

Sometimes the work is too personal for a workshop. Whether you’re a staff nurse navigating burnout, a new manager finding your footing, or a leader caught in the middle and trying to stay grounded, we offer private coaching that meets you where you are. Confidential, focused, and built around what you’re actually carrying.

Who we are

We’re two nurses who spent more than a decade on the floor long enough to see what works, what doesn’t, and who keeps getting left behind when healthcare tries to fix itself. We went back for the training healthcare leadership rarely gets, and built Ford & Fernandes Consulting for the leaders and teams we wished we’d had.

Tilan, PsyD(c), MBA, LPN Co-Founder

Over ten years in nursing, an MBA, and a doctorate in progress in organizational leadership psychology. The work that shaped me happens at the intersection of clinical reality and the systems and behaviors that drive how healthcare teams actually function.

Alberto, MBA, BSN Co-Founder

Over ten years across ED, trauma, ICU, and medical-surgical units, paired with an MBA. I bring the frontline lens and the operational thinking; what it actually feels like on the unit, and what it takes to lead one well.
